Ann S. Labin, 100, of Madison, passed away on the morning of February 7, 2017 at Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center in Madison with her family by her side.

 

Ann was born on January 16, 1917 in Madison the daughter of George and Ann (Valleo) Shusta. She was a graduate of Madison High School, class of 1935.

 

Mrs. Labin was employed with Wyndotte Industries in Waterville for many years as an inspector of fine wool and cashmere for the garment industry in New York . She also worked for Ed Muskie on his companions for Governor, Senate and Vice President.

 

She enjoyed collecting crystals from around the world, she always had beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. Ann was a big fan of Madison High School games, New England Patriots and Notre Dame Football, she would travel to Notre Dame with her son David when possible. She was an excellent cook and was proficient in Slavic food.

 

For all of the many things that Ann did throughout her life , she will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother and great friend .

 

Ann was predeceased by her husband John J. Labin on April 7, 1981, her two daughters, Jean Labin and Christine Labin. She was also predeceased by her sister Mary Bartlett and brothers, George Shusta and Anthony Shusta Sr.

 

She is survived by her son David Labin of Madison, her nephews, Richard Bartlett and his wife Cathy of Madison, Tim Shusta and his wife Karen of Tampa , Florida, Anthony Shusta II and his wife Trudy Madison and Donald Sawyer of Waterville. She is also survived by her nieces, Judy Wooster of Skowhegan, Barbara Murry and her husband Reggie of Mercer, Candice Carson and her husband Neil of Solon, Antonia Shusta and her husband Bill of Key Largo, Florida, Debbie Duffy of Saco and a close family friend , Nelson Redmond of Anson.

 

The family would like to thank the staff and administrators at Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 207 at 11:00 AM in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Main Street Madison. A Luncheon will follow in the parish hall.. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery in the Spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison. www.gibersonfuneralhome.com.
