Barbara E. Smith, 68, of Madison passed away unexpectedly following a long battle with several health issues.

 

Barbara was born in Skowhegan on January 4, 1949, daughter of George and Beverly Allen. She was educated in the Madison schools.

 

She married the love of her life, Thomas J. Smith on September 4, 1966 , they raised four children together.Barbara went to work at Redington Hospital as the ward secretary. She truly loved working at the hospital, it gave her great pride to be able to help others. She enjoyed going out dancing, camping and going to the beach.

 

She liked to work in her flower gardens, she enjoyed collecting Thomas Kinkade items, she was an immaculate housekeeper and a great cook. For all that she ever did or was , she will be best remembered as a loving wife, mother, nanny, sister and good friend.

 

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Thomas J. Smith her son Bobby Smith, her brothers, Charlie, David and Larry Allen and her beloved dog Mikita.

 

She is survived by her mother Beverly Allen of Madison, her daughters, Lisa Murray and her fiance David MacDonald of Sidney, Tammy Judkins and her significant other Calvin Colby of Norridgewock and Cindy Bossie and her fiance Tim Corson of Madison.

 

Barbara also leaves behind five sisters, May Wallace of Ohio, Mary Hinkley of Bingham, Carol Gray of Madison, Gloria Aube of Virginia and Donna Moore of Florida, as well as eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00 PM in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Madison. Followed by a Celebration of Life service at the American Legion Hall on South Maple Street in Madison at 2:00 PM.
