Charles “Buddy” Waugh Jr. 79, passed away on January 28th at Mount St. Joseph’s in Waterville.

 

Buddy was born August 26th 1937, the son of Charles Waugh Sr. and Dorothy Irving.  He graduated from Bingham High School in 1956.

 

 During his life he owned and operated his own bottled gas and logging truck business, was a road commissioner in Solon for six terms, supervisor and dispatcher for North Anson Reel Co, served in the National Guard where he drove tank for 5 years and retired as a chief civil deputy for the Somerset Sheriff’s Department.

 

 

Buddy was a skilled athlete in his early years on the basketball court.  He continued his competitive talents racing snowmobiles as well as racing stock cars on the dirt track at Unity Speedway winning many trophies in his racing career.  His need for speed never left, with his love for speed boats, four wheelers, and snowmobiles.  Buddy was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed Nascar racing.

 

 

Buddy is predeceased by both parents and sister Dorothy.  

 

He is survived by two loving daughters; oldest daughter Kimberly Jellison and her husband Lee and their two sons Justin and Nathan of Norridgewock.  His youngest daughter, Lynette Godbout and her husband Steve and their two sons Jacob and Gabriel of Monmouth.  Sister Charlene Waugh MacDonald and Don MacDonald of Skowhegan and ex wife and friend Faylene Waugh of Norridgewock.

 

 

The family would like to extend a heartwarming thanks to all the amazing staff at Mount St. Joseph’s where they treated Buddy like family.

 

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, February 1st from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Giberson’s Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street in Madison.  Service will be at noon at Giberson funeral home on Thursday, February 2nd with a celebration of his life to follow.
