Cora F. Calway Longley, 92, of Embden, passed away on July 6, 2016 at Tissues Country Estates in Athens, with her family by her side.

Cora was born on January 7, 1924 in Madison a daughter of James and Nellie (Perkins) Calway. She was educated in the local schools. Cora married Richard H. “Dick” Longley on October 26, 1943 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, they have been married 72 years.

Cora worked various jobs including sporting camps, Pierce Pond & Grace Pond, at the Sterling Hotel in the Forks and finally retiring from the Anson Stick Mill.

Cora enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, crocheting and was an avid reader. She was at her happiest spending time with Dick at their camp in Moxie where she caught many fish.

She was predeceased by her beloved son John R. Longley, her father James Calway, mother Nellie Perkins Calway Smith and step father Harry Smith. Three brothers, Robert Calway, Charlie Calway and Harry Smith Jr. Three sisters, Avis, Maxine and Isabelle. Grandson Thadius Longley, great grandson Ryan Consolazio, a brother in law Robert Fleming and a sister in law Gloria Hendsbee.

Cora is survived by her husband of 72 years, Richard H. Longley of Embden, her son Daniel Longley and his wife Janet also of Embden, two daughters Linda Hayden and her husband Jim of Madison and Holly Cianchette of Venice Florida.

She is also survived by daughter in law Nadine Longley of Salem, a brother Lester Smith and his wife Gail of Lexington, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cora's family wants to thank the staff at Tissues Country Estate for their loving care and support, and Maine General Hospice for their exceptional care.

People are welcome at Linda and Jim Hayden's home at 56 North Street in Madison following the service.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday July 11th, 2016 at 10 AM, at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street, Madison Maine. Burial will follow in Pierce Cemetery in Solon.
