ANSON- Donald “Beanie” Beane, 82, passed away Friday afternoon, June 24, 2016, at the Eastern Maine Medical Center surrounded by his loving family in body and heart.

He was born August 6th, 1933, in Madison, a son of Walter and Lillian(Bishop) Beane,

Donald married Eleanor Merrill on October 31st, 1953 while on leave from his service in the United States Navy, of which he served 4 years. Halloween, what a magical beginning for the two.

Always a hard worker, he spent a number of years at the Maple Lane Dairy, a year for the Anson Fire Department as Chief, years at Webber Oil making deliveries until his retirement at the age of 63. “Beanie” could often be found sitting in his folding chair by the Kennebec River, wheelin’ and dealin’ at his lawn sales every summer. In his retirement he enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. As he would tell anyone, he lived a good life, he lived a full life. We’ll miss you Papa Beane.

Donald joins his parents, his brother Ernest “Sonny” Beane, his sister Shirley Bryant, and his beloved daughter Donna Beane Williams.

He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor Merrill Beane; his sons Walter Scott Beane and Dana Loyd Beane; his sister Gloria MacAvoy; his eight grandchildren, Jada, Kara, Eric, Adam, Zakariah, Abrahamm, Ahnna-Balai, and Angelisa; and his four great-grandchildren, Mya, Luca, Natalie, and Abigail.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 3:00 PM in Athearn Cemetery in Anson. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.
