Evelyn A. Spencer, 89, of Anson, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on April 30, 1928 in New Vineyard, a daughter of George and Edna (Clark) Wells and she was educated in the local schools.

Evelyn worked at several different careers throughout her life, her last job was as the shipping supervisor at the former North Anson Reel.

She lived in Florida for several years, returning home to her family in 2016. Evelyn enjoyed refurbishing ceramic lawn ornaments and selling them or just giving them to friends. She liked gardening , flowers and for many years she tied fishing flies.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Henry Hilt, a daughter Shirley Irene Wilder, her bother Ozzy Wells, her sister Thelma Wacome and her son in law Steve Hatch.

She is survived by her son Henry Spencer and his wife Peggy and her daughter Patricia Hatch, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
