Lillian Merrill, 86
Lillian Merlin Merrill, 86 of North Anson ,passed away on Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 at
Maine General Medical Center in Augusta.
She was born on July 9, 1931 in Lower Dallas Plantation, near Rangeley, Maine to Merle Merrill and Esther Gagnon.
Lillian married Harris Merrill on December 28th, 1947
and he survives her.
Lillian was predeceased by her brother Horace Merrill, her daughter
Eleanor Clark, a grandson, Jack Mauller and her beloved Diana Merrill.
Lillian is also survived by her siblings, Clyde Merrill, Mable Heath, Eva Pinkham, Frank Merrill, Clarence Merrill and Carl Merrill. She is survived by her children,
David Merrill, Valerie Burbank and husband Bart Burbank, and Edie Welch and her husband Mike Welch. Her grandchildren, David H. Merrill, Dawn Miller, Dodie Mathieu,
Chad Merrill, Amy Burbank-Rollins, Bud Burbank, Robert Stewart,
Melissa Stewart-Cox and Mike Welch. Lillian is also survived by
21 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.
Lillian was a beloved sister, mother and grandmother. She touched
many lives with her kind and generous nature, amazing cooking and
beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed other hobbies such as knitting and quilting.
Lillian loved her musical family at the Embden Community Center where she was
surrounded by good friends and the melody of country music. Lillian’s love for music
brought joy to many who knew her and heard her sing. She will be deeply missed
by all and will forever be our “Honky Tonk Angel”.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Maine General Medical Center for
the exceptional care Lillian received. A special thanks to Jesse Williams who was incredibly kind and caring and went above and beyond.
Friends are asked to join with the family for a time of visitation and remembrance on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Giberson Funeral Home, Madison. A Celebration of Lillian's life and her love of Country Music will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 1:00- 4:00 PM at the Embden Community Center in Embden. Burial will be on July 9, 2018 in Sunset Cemetery in North Anson, time to be announced. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Madison.
