Linton A. Caswell, 78, of Anson, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center in Bingham.

 

He was born on August 19, 1938 in Mercer, Maine, the youngest child of Raymond and Venetta (Gray) Caswell. The family moved to Madison in 1943. Linton graduated from Madison Memorial High School, class of 1957 and he joined the United States Navy, serving aboard the destroyer, Everett F. Larson, based in San Diego, California. After his discharge from the service he was employed as a manager with three local banks. He retired from Skowhegan Savings in 2000.

 

Linton married the love of his life, Marlene Walker in 1962 and they had three sons.

 

He enjoyed hunting, canoeing, kayaking, golf and trips to the Allagash with good friends.

 

Linton was a member of the New Portland Lions Club, Madison Legion and the Madison Kiwanis.

 

He was predeceased by both of his parents, a brother, Leland Caswell and his wife Irene, Sister Lorene and her husband Wallace and his sister Lucille and her husband Billy.

 

Linton is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marlene Caswell, his sons, Scott Caswell and his wife Dianne, Shawn Caswell and his partner Melissa, and Jeremy Caswell and his partner Wanda. His grandchildren, Jenna and Dakota, his sister Lena and her husband Rodney as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 1:00 PM, at the Madison Legion Hall on Maple Street in Madison.
