Stevens J. Plante, 66, of Jackman, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Maine General Hospital in Augusta with his family by his side.

He was born in Jackman on October 8, 1949 a son of Rosaire and Pauline (Colgan) Plante. He was educated in the local schools.

Stevens was employed for 16 plus years for the Department of Transportation, earlier he worked for Scott Paper Company as a scaler, timber cutter and a truck driver.

Stevens enjoyed playing golf, hunting,trapping,ice fishing,boating, taking his Ranger side by side out for rides, hanging out with friends and family, watching old western and most of all spending time with his beloved son Ross.

Stevens was predeceased by both of his parents as well as his uncle Joseph Plante.

He is survived by his son Ross Plante of San Diego, California, his brother, Dana Plante and his wife Denise of Jackman, his sister, Margaret “Peggy” Rancourt and her husband Ron of Southington, Connecticut, an uncle, Frank Colgan and his wife Claire of Madawaska, longtime girlfriend Maria Kipp and her son Josh Kipp of San Diego, Ross's mom Wendy Lumber, three nieces, a nephews, cousins and many close friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Faustina Catholic Church in Jackman, burial will follow in St. Anthony's cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Bingham.www.gibersonfuneralhome.com
