Wayne E. Bassett, 65 of Anson, passed away surrounded by his loving family, on November 22, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Wayne was born on December 7, 1950 in Hyannis, Massachusetts, a son of Howard and Marie (Sutherland) Bassett. He was educated in the local schools. Wayne lived in Massachusetts until he moved to Maine in 1986.

 

He was employed at New Balance and Dexter Shoe later he was a custodian at SAD 74 until his retirement in 2006.

 

Wayne enjoyed watching the Red Sox, going fishing, everything Elvis, WWE wrestling and all animals. He especially loved to spend time with his family and friends.

 

His family would like to remember Wayne for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

Wayne was predeceased by his first wife, Janice DeMello Bassett who passed away on September 26, 1988, by his sisters, Betty Bassett and Ruth Thayer as well as his step daughter Christine Ambrose who passed away on Christmas day 2013.

 

He is survived by his wife Suzanne Bassett of Anson, daughters, Melody Beaman and her husband Matthew of Madison and Sandra- Lee Ennis of North Carolina.

 

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Danielle and Christopher of Madison, Jessica Vining also of Madison, Jennifer Parks of Winslow, Rhiannon Ambrose, Cahlilah Bassett and Elizabeth Ambrose. His great grandchildren, Dexter, Nora, Hunter, Brooklynn, Nicholas, Sophie, Olivia and Ben. As well as his special friends, Carlton and Pat Clark of Anson and Susan Zimmermen of North Carolina and Mary and Marc Leslie of East Madison, and many cousins.

 

The family would like to thank Doctor Lorraine Paradis and her staff, the Cardiac Rehab at Redington Fairview General Hospital, especially Sue and Heidi. The family would also like to thank Maine general Hospice for their kindness and care, with a special thank you to Linda, Michelle and Carey.
