Sandra Cowan Obituary

Madison- Sandra L. Cowan, 66 passed away peacefully on March 16th, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Sandra was born on November 29, 1957, in Skowhegan, Maine, daughter to Ivan and Marilyn (Charron) Spencer. Sandy attended schools in Madison where she graduated saluditorian of her 1976 class. She then attended college and received her Associate's Degree in Accounting. Sandy was hired at Madison Paper Industries where she proudly worked in various departments for over 30 years. On December 9th, 1978 she married the love of her life Bruce Cowan of Madison.

Sandy enjoyed spending days in the summer next to the pool with her family. She cherished all the time she got to spend as a loving grandmother. She will be missed everyday but she can now be with her husband and without any pain. Sandy is predeceased by her father Ivan and her husband Bruce.

Sandy is survived by her mother Marilyn Spencer of Bedford, NH; daughter Jessica Cowan and fiancee Frank Berry of Madison; step-son Heath Cowan of Madison; grandchildren Charlotte Cowan, Ty Cowan and Raegan Cowan all of Madison; siblings Susan Plante and husband Jason Plante of Londonderry, NH; Garry Spencer of Old Town, Maine; Ike Spencer and wife Lisa Spencer of Hollis, NH; Dean Spencer of Maine; sisters-in-law Lori Grimes of Anson, Maine; Deborah Spencer of Old Town, Maine; as well as many friends and additional family. The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the Beacon Hospice workers for all of their generous care at the end of Sandy's life.

Following cremation, a celebration of Sandy's life will be held at the Christ Community Fellowship Church at 43 Maple Street in Madison on April 6, 2024 at 11 AM with a light luncheon to follow at the VFW also in Madison. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sandy's name to the National MS Society PO Box #91881 Washington, D.C. 20090-1891
