Hooksett, NH - Barbara A. Ray, 93, of Hooksett, NH passed away May 25, 2018 at the Mapleleaf Nursing Home in Manchester, NH.
Barbara was born in Salem, MA on December 12, 1924 to George Safford and Velma Barbeau (Sanborn). She was a registered nurse and worked at Salem Hospital in Salem, MA. And at Sisters Hospital in Waterville, ME.
She married Donald K. Ray on June 14, 1948 and worked at their General Store in Anson, ME. And a country store in Contoocook, NH. In between, she worked at Jordan Marsh for four years in Manchester NH. Barbara and Kathy were antique dealers together, buying and selling doll houses, miniatures and dolls until she was 92.
Barbara is survived by her four children, Bernadette Ray, Katherine Ray, Thomas Ray and Constance Ray; along with her eight grandchildren, Jeremy Rush, Stephanie Szulc, Brandon Jaeger, Morgan Nakis, and her adopted grandchildren Stevenson Ray Cushing (deceased), Stephania Ray Cushing, Nichole Ray, and Tai Ray; her ten great-grandchildren, Jeremy Rush's children, Riley and Delaney Haines; Lily and Sophia Szulc; Nina, Noelle, Wesley and Rhys Jaeger; and Braelyn and Kinsley Cushing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 31st in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 161 Main Street, Madison, ME 04950. There will be a gathering of friends and family at Giberson's Funeral Home, 40 Maple St, Madison, ME from 9:30-11:30 a.m. before the mass. The burial will be at the St. Sebastian Cemetery following the mass.
