Darrell Roderick

Darrell Roderick, 61, of Solon passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at his home in Solon surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 11, 1958 in Mattawamkeag, Maine a son of Thomas Roderick and Maxine (Corson) Roderick. In his younger years Darrell worked for Solon Manufacturing Company and Poulin Farm. He worked for many years at JC Penney Construction where he was Clerk of the Works. He was a dedicated employee. His jobs let him see most of the East Coast and as far out as Texas. He spent much of his life on the road doing a job he loved.

Darrell loved doing odd jobs around the house, making videos, doing crafts but most of all spending time with his family and friends. He loved his dogs, they were more than just dogs they were his children. Darrell was a very generous man, always helping others through hard times. He was a mentor to many. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, his sarcasm but most of all for always having a smile to share. To know him was to love him.

He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Maxine Roderick and his nephew Joel Bishop.

Darrell is survived by his siblings Danny and his wife Vivian of Tinmouth, Vermont, Linda White of Bingham, Belinda Nickerson and partner Paul Lancaster of Bingham, Rita Schrader of Bingham, Allen and his wife Kathy of Bingham, Terry Bishop and her husband Mike of Bingham, Dana and his wife Jeanette of Moscow, Louie and his partner Lisa Chapman of Moscow and Joey and his partner Adria Callan of Solon. His special niece's Tracy Roderick of Oakland and Chrissy Young of New Portland. His very special nephew Thomas Roderick of Solon who Darrell thought of as his very own son and his special great nephew and niece Thomas Roderick Jr and Annabell Roderick. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and special friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Solon Elementary School on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:00pm with Reverend Mark Tanner officiating. The burial will follow the service in Evergreen Cemetery in Solon. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memory of Darrell to the Somerset Humane Society P.O. Box 453 Skowhegan, Maine 04976.
