Dean Cates Obituary


Dean F. Cates, 60, of Anson, passed away on Saturday, May 19th 2018 in Auburn. Dean was born in Skowhegan on June 7th, 1957 the son of Noel and Marjorie (Nichols) Cates. Dean graduated from Carrabec High School in 1976. He married Linda Clark on June 6th, 1981. He owned and operated his own business Empty Pocket Trucking and drove for Bruce Manzer for the past 21 years. Prior to that he worked at North Anson Reel Mill for 11 years as a mechanic. Dean enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boiling sap, camping, motorcycle riding, boating, building and flying R.C airplanes and boats, antique automotive restoration and most importantly spending time with family. There wasn’t anything Dean couldn’t take apart, fix or turn into a new creation. Dean and Linda would find many adventures going on Sunday rides. Dean was preceded by his parents Noel and Marjorie Cates. Dean is survived by his wife Linda Cates of 36 years, two daughters, Lisa Cates of Canaan and Wendy Longley of Detroit, brother Dale Cates and his wife Kitty of Embden, sister Penny Wyatt and husband Jan of Middleboro, Mass. Seven grandchildren, Brooke and Aja Rogers, Brianna Cates, Isaiah, Kayden and Jaysen Longley and Danielle Williams. Visiting hours with be from 4 p.m to 7 p.m Wednesday, May 23 2018 at Giberson Funeral Home, Madison Maine. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in North Anson Maine on Saturday, May 26th at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place later this summer at Dean’s Home at 628 Valley Road, Anson.
