MADISON - Dennis A. Barron, 74, passed peacefully from this earthly life to his heavenly home on September 10, 2017. He was born in Anson, Maine on September 2, 1943 to Dwight W. Sr. and Thelma (Otis) Barron.

He graduated in 1961 from Anson Academy. He played basketball and in baseball was named an Upper Kennebec Valley All Star. Upon graduation he worked at North Anson Reel where he learned the art of being a sawyer. He served his country in the army for 3 years from 1963-1966. After completing his service he returned to North Anson Reel where he worked for many years. He retired from the lumber business September 2008 after working over 40 years.

He enjoyed watching his children play sports and continued to attend games after they graduated. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed bowling and playing men’s softball. In his spare time, he liked crossword and jigsaw puzzles as well as Sudoku. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He liked to make things using wood, such as bookshelves and birdhouses.

He was a member of Christ Community Fellowship formerly known as United Baptist Church in Madison where he served on the property committee and as a deacon and usher.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, Richard Barron; in-laws Richard Saucier, and Joyce and Leo Estes.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carolee Reed (Kelly) Barron of Madison; a brother Dwight W. Barron Jr. of Embden; children Jonathan and fiancée Katelyn Forbes of Fairfield; Kelly Hyssong and husband Richard of Rockland; and Stephanie of Madison; grandchildren Rianna and Kolby Barron, Aurora Forbes, and Makayla and Richard Hyssong IV; nieces Michelle Gross, Melissa Johnson, and Elizabeth Soucie; in-laws Paula Barron, Alva and Shirley Reed, Don and Jan Kelly, Sheila and Dave Henderson, Gail Saucier and several nieces and nephews; and many cousins including Lewis Morton and Ken Billing.

 

Visiting will be on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Christ Community Fellowship Church on Maple Street Madison. A funeral service will follow at 2:00. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery . Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.

His family would like to thank CCF for their support and prayers as well as the Oncology Department and staff at RFGH.
