Ervin Wilbur Stickney
1933 - 2015
NORRIDGEWOCK - Ervin Wilbur Stickney, a man who faithfully served the Lord, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Jan. 17, 2015, while surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Blaine, on May 28, 1933, he was the son of Samuel F. and Sarah Jane (Shields) Stickney. He was a loving husband to Virginia (French) Stickney for 43 years.
Ervin was a gentle, hardworking man who committed his life to God and his family. He attended school in North Anson. He worked at North Anson Reel, Canadian Chains, and retired from Lucas Tree Company in 1997, after 23 years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents; his son Jeffrey; his brothers George, Charles, Emery, Leon, Ellery, Gordon, and Merville, and sister Alice Harrington. Ervin is survived by his loving wife, Ginny; two sisters Frances Kilcollins and Katherine Lavoie; his five children, Bernard Stickney and partner Diane Glidden of Mars Hill, Pamela Stickney and partner George Clemmer of Winslow, Mark Stickney, Chelsea, and Barbara Bell of Skowhegan, and Gordon Stickney and wife Debbie, Chelsea, and five stepchildren, MacKenzie Salinas and husband Heriberto of Charlotte, N.C., Melody Adams and husband Carlton of Skowhegan, James Goodwin and wife Kim of Benton, Tammy Berdal and husband Abdullah of Raleigh, N.C., and April Sesin and husband Al of Newport. He is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all family and friends for the loving care given to Ervin in his time of need, the wonderful nurses of Hospice Volunteers who gave great care and comfort to Ervin and his family during his final days, Pastor Tim Haynes of the Calvary Pentecostal Church of Madison for being not only a Pastor but also a great friend to Ervin for many years, and to Dr. Kathy Lees for always being there when need needed.
A Bible verse that gave great comfort to Ervin and to his family: "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
"And as Jesus carried the cross, he noticed me in the crowd, and I asked "Lord, will you remember me?" and he said, "Yes, Ervin, I will always remember you."
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at the Calvary Pentecostal Church, Old Point Ave., Madison, with Pastor Timothy Haynes officiating. Interment will be later in the spring at the Sunset View Cemetery, Norridgewock. Arrangements are under the care of Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
