Mars Hill

Helen Ruth Durgin 80 , of Mapleton , Maine, formerly of Raymond, New Hampshire, and Bingham, Maine, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill, with her daughters and sisters at her side.

Helen was born on November 17, 1937, in Madison, a daughter of Cecil and Ruth (Dow) Quimby. She was educated in the local schools.

She was employed at Quimby Veneer Mill, later with her husband Conrad she owned and operated Durgin's Cash and Carry on Main Street in Bingham for more than 20 years, she was also a cook at Thompson's Restaurant.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Conrad Durgin who passed away on October 13, 2005. As well as her son Paul L. Durgin and a sister Lucienne L. Paradis

She is survived by her daughters, Debra M. Curtis and her husband, Duane, of Mapleton, and Cindy L. Foote and her husband, Jack of East Millinocket.; grandchildren Sara L. Smith and her husband David of Hampstead, N.H., Laura Bernaby of Atkinson, N.H., Jeffrey A. Curtis and his partner Sophia Gomez of Arizona and Jason P. Durgin and his wife Charly of Bingham; a great-grandchildren, Anabella Brandolini. Ryan Hebert, Damoira Smith, Jillian Lathrop, and Ardyn Smith. Helen is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Tibbets, Linda Smith and her husband Richard and Kathy Johnson and her husband Mark and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River Street Bingham. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Giberson Funeral Home A Graveside Service will follow in Bingham Village Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Bingham.
