Skowhegan-

James G. McLaughlin Jr., 54, of Skowhegan passed away Monday, March 19th 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Skowhegan.

He was born in Skowhegan on February 10th 1964 to James G. McLaughlin Sr. and Vesta (Shaw) McLaughlin.

He attended local schools and completed his education at Carrabec High School in 1982.

Jim was a hard worker all of his life. He started blueberry raking with his brother Chris at the age of twelve. He held several other jobs before signing on with Verso Paper in Jay in 1987 where he worked until his retirement.

Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, working outside, and just being in nature. Jim was a self-taught guitarist and a jack-of-all trades. He appreciated a well-placed joke. He was a life-long fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Dale Earnhardt. He had a passion for diesel trucks and was a motorcycle enthusiast. His favorite role was being a father to his two daughters. They were his pride and joy.

He is predeceased by his wife Judith McLaughlin and his father James G. McLaughlin Sr.

Jim is survived by his two daughters, Jessica McLaughlin and her husband Tom Pichette of Summerville, South Carolina and Taylah McLaughlin and her fiancée Nick Bubar of Detroit, Maine, the girls’ mother, Jennifer Gervais of China, Maine, his Mother, Vesta Shaw McLaughlin of Skowhegan, his brother, Chris McLaughlin and his wife Donna of Starks, his three sisters, Jeannie Hines and her husband Randy of Solon, Carla Welch and her husband Steve of Skowhegan, Elizabeth Blomerth and her husband Daren of Madison and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Beacon Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ Community Fellowship Church Saturday, March 24th from 3:00 to 6:00pm. Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife Judith in Robinson Memorial Cemetery, Moscow in the spring. Date and time to be announced.
