James E. Reynolds, 39, of Augusta, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at his home.

He was born on March 2, 1978 in Waterville, the son of Michael Cook and Deedee Reynolds. He had an unwavering belief in God and his faith carried him through the many trials of his life. As James, would say "Life is hard but God is good".

James was employed as a construction laborer for many years and always took pride in his work. His boss, Peter was close to his heart.

He had a mischievous side with a slightly crazy edge, even as a child he would find himself doing foolish thing without trying. James always had a special sense of humor; he was funny and loved to joke. His humor and antics would lift everyone’s spirits or just embarrass you. Either way he made you smile. He was a take me as I am kind of person. You knew what he was thinking because he was saying it.

James had a big heart, he would help anyone, even those he did not know. He was there when you needed him. He loved the process of recovery and he believed in the journey. James was happy to share his story and would often speak to group of people that were in recovery.

He loved his mother, his family and especially his sons. He loved us all. Under it all, James was the most loyal, dedicated and committed person you'd ever meet.

James was predeceased by his father, Michael Cook, both of his grandfathers, Alec Reynolds and Jim Cook as well as a grandmother, Charlotte O’Brien.

He is survived by his mother Deedee Hightower and her husband Keith. By his son, Jacob Reynolds and his mother Carroll Delbaugh, and his son Codi Reynolds.

James is also survived by his significant other, Courtney Allen and their children Wyatt and Aimin Dow.

His stepsister Brandy Brown and step brother Laymon Hightower. His brothers, Michael J.J. Cook and Nate Langley, as well as his grandmother Audrey Cook. He leaves behind his extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, many close friends and his recovery family.

To say he will be greatly missed would be an understatement. He touched so many lives. Lean close to the God of your understanding and James will be with you.

Friends are asked to join the family for a time of visitation and remembrance on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 PM at Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street, Madison, Maine.
