Nelson Fredrick Cummings Sr. “Freddy” 94, joined the lord Tuesday, August 08, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.

He was born on November 09, 1922 to William Cummings and Katherine Burbo in Burlington, Vermont. He worked as a laborer, security guard and a textile mill. He joined the Massachusetts National Guard, Company C 181st Infantry.

Throughout the years he enjoyed playing cribbage in which he taught many of his grandchildren how to play. He also enjoyed playing solitaire, Yahtzee and loved watching the Red Sox baseball games. He enjoyed watching western's and soap opera's, Days of Our Lives was his favorite. He also enjoyed telling jokes, collecting hats and spending time with his family. Nelson was known by many as Grandpa or Freddy and will be deeply missed by all those that knew him. He left a lasting impression on everyone's lives he touched.

On May 25, 1957 he married his life long partner Celia Jodin. They had two wonderful children together.

He is survived by his daughter Arlene J. Creamer of Madison and his son Nelson F. Cummings Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Embden. His grandchildren, Melissa Barthelet, Duncan Cummings, Jeffrey Cummings, Isic Bloom, Dot Davidson, April Davidson, Alexander Renshaw Sr. and Joanne Walls. His great grandchildren Kaylin Frapper, Phoenix Howard, Colton Knox, Madison Commett, Emily Commett, Ryan Barthelett, Lily Barthelet and Lakota Barthelett.

Nelson is predeceased by his loving wife Celia, his son in law Carl “Skip” Creamer and many of his siblings.
