Rita M. Gritman, age 91, passed away on April 18, 2019 at the Androscoggin Hospice House. She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY November 30, 1927 to Ethel Gerow and Albert Arbuckle. She was raised by her aunt Claire Arbuckle and her husband Herbert Duncan. She married W. Douglas Gritman on August 29th, 1948 in Poughkeepsie, NY.
She was predeceased by her mother, father, aunt and uncle, (Ethel, Albert, Claire, Herbert) her husband W. Douglas Gritman, her cousins Graham, and Howard, and her brother and sister (Albert and Claire).
She was an active member of Young Women's Christian Association and was named Chairman of Good Friday Breakfast. She worked for Foxcroft Studio and Longley Studio coloring portrait photographs with oils. She also worked as a book keeper and was fluent in shorthand. She was a member of Calvary Pentecostal Church, formerly of the Log Cabin Church and Church of Faith of Skowhegan. She was an active member of the Gideon's Auxiliary till the death of her husband in 2000. She was a prayer warrior often praying two to three hours a day. She will be missed for her grace, love, and her generous spirit.
She is survived by her daughters Wanda and Alinda of Poland, Donna and her husband (Brent Ames), her grandsons Allen and Daniel Hanson, Tyler, Jeremiah, and Douglas Ames, and Joshua Stevens, her 9 great grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Duncan.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25th, at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Madison, Maine at 11:00 am.
