Velma Etta Tozier

New Portland

Velma E Tozier of Farmington, formerly of West New Portland passed away Monday, February 12th 2018 at Sandy River Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation in Farmington.

She was born on May 10th, 1927, in West New Portland, daughter of Clifton and Cora (Williamson) Tozier. She attended school in New Portland and Bingham. She graduated from Central High School in North New Portland with the class of 1947.

She worked for Medwed Footwear in Skowhegan and Solon Manufacturing also in Skowhegan. After that she retired early to move to West New Portland to care for her mother after her father passed away in 1973. Throughout her life time she was a valued care giver for various family members in need.

She dedicated her life to her family and lived with her two sisters for more than 25 years. She was an excellent seamstress and was known for making her own dresses. She raised chickens for many years and always had a beloved cat in the house. Her faith was very important to her and she regularly attended church in East New Portland and Kingfield.

She is survived by two nieces Gloria Livingston of North Anson, Allison Franklin of Auburn; one nephew Denis Martin of Pleasant Ridge; 10 great-nieces and nephews. 17 great-great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and her siblings, Elwin "Shiner" Hutchins, Maxine Huff, Fayalene Martin, and Morris "Skip" Tozier; two nephews Elwyn Hutchins and Ronald Hutchins; two nieces Ruth Martin,and Norine Martin.

A graveside Service will be held in the Spring in East Cemetery in New Portland. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Madison.
