Zackery Corson Obituary

Zackery, 35, of Solon, Maine passed away on February 10, 2018 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by family. Zackery was born on March 1, 1982 in Skowhegan, Maine to Zella J. (McQuilkin) and Danny L.Corson. Zack attended Solon Elementary School and graduated in 1996 despite hospital stays that required tutoring to catch up on all he had missed. During that time Zack was a member of 4-H and Boy Scouts. He graduated from Carrabec High School in 2000 and headed off to the University of Southern Maine with his peritoneal dialysis unit in tow. Zack graduated from USM in 2005 with a degree in Computer Technology showing us all how determined and driven he was despite all the hurdles life seemed to continue to place in front of him. He returned to Solon and began working as a computer technician at Redington Fairview General Hospital. Zack was a George Mitchell Scholar and in 2008 he was awarded the Paddy Frank Walsh Pioneer Award for overcoming tremendous obstacles to achieve success. Everywhere he went, Zack made a lasting impression on all who met him with his easy going personality and unforgettable laugh. Zack will be remembered for always making time for family, his infectious smile so big it squeezed his eyes shut, and for not letting his disease define the man he came to be.

Zack is survived by his mother Zella J. Corson, sister Danielle Corson, niece Angel and Jason Lewis and their children Alisa and Jaiona. Aunts and Uncles: Penny and Gerald Rogers, Debby Corson, Ronny Corson and Kathy Booth, Betty and Peter Horton and Clifford and Penny Corson, William and Camilla Frederick. Cousins: Hillary and Liza, Jenny and Thomas, Cathy and Adam, Jason and Josh, and Joshua and Lindsey.

Zack is predeceased by his father Danny L. Corson, Grandparents Oscar and Ethel McQuilkin, Joyce Corson and Harold Corson.

Zackery also leaves behind his pride and joy, Ruger and the memories of Dakota and Chuckles.

Special thanks to Zack’s “extended family” at Redington Fairview General Hospital, the teams on R5, dialysis and SCU4 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, and the “Zack Pack Warriors.”
