Norridgewock Maine,

 

Alvan Carl Gilman, 88, of Norridgewock passed away on July 5, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on September 24, 1932 in Cambridge Maine a son of Albert and Wealthy (Cooley) Gilman. He was educated in the local schools later received a bachelor of science degree in physical education. Following school he served in the National Guards, United States Marine Corps, proudly serving in Korea, and later in the United States Navy.

 

He was a truck driver for Hart Transportation out of Bangor for most of his life. He was a member of the Norridgewock Baptist Church, he enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, word puzzles and traveling especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

 

He was predeceased by his daughter Juanita Veilleux, his grandsons James Gilman and Eric Coro, his brother Arthur Gilman as well as two sisters Lois Trafton and Mary Brazier.

 

Alvan is survived by his wife of 70 years Mildred Adams Gilman, his children Nancy Billing and her husband Sam, Albert Gilman and his wife Louisa, Edward Gilman, Leonard Gilman, Janet Gilman, Alvan Gilman II and his wife Tammy, son in law Jerry Veilleux as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. There are no services scheduled at this time.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Maine General Home Care and Hospice as well as the friends and neighbors for all of their care and kindness through this difficult time.
