Arline Johnson, 99, of Madison passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023. Arline was born in Skowhegan, on March 4, 1924 the daughter of Marian and Richard Hayden.
She attended schools in Athens, Cornville, and Skowhegan Area High School. Arline went on to marry her husband, Gordon Williams on April 15, 1943 with whom she had 6 children, Gordon sadly passed in 1979. Arline later married John Johnson in 1982, who later passed in 1993.
Arline was a very active member of the Madison community of which she resided for 75 years. She was a member of the United Baptist Church, Madison Fire Auxiliary, as well as the Madison Girl Scouts. She had many hobbies such as reading, knitting, crocheting, and arts and crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards and cribbage. Arline loved spending time with her family, taking camping trips, having campfires, cookouts, and visiting the coast.
She is predeceased by her parents Marian and Richard Hayden, her sister Ethel McQuilkin, brothers Joseph and Carlton Hayden, her husband Gordon Williams, her second husband John Johnson, and four of her children, Sandra Williams, Bonnie Williams, Donna Lightbody, and Thomas Williams Sr.
Arline is survived by her two sons John “Jack” Williams and wife Linda of Madison, and Michael Bassett of Skowhegan, son-in-law Roger Lightbody Sr. of Madison, sister Pauline Coro of whom she was very close, her grandchildren Timmy Williams of Madison, Tammy Gray and husband Sam of Madison, Darcy Ballard and husband Brad of Florida, Heather Aponte of Florida, Matt Rickards and wife Bridget of North Anson, Nicole Dillman and husband Chris of Lewiston, Nancy Nulligan and husband Pat of Connecticut, Roger Jr and wife Kathy of Madison, Robin Trask and husband David of Norridgewock, Jody Lightbody and Significant other Holly of Madison, Denise Partridge and husband Daryel of North Anson, Thomas Williams Jr and Wife Jessie of Madison, as well as several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on June 30, 2023 at 12:00 PM in Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison followed by a celebration of life at Crossroads Church located at 705 White Schoolhouse Road, Madison, Maine.
