On Thursday August 17th, 2023 Arnold “Arnie” Belanger, loving husband and father went home to the Lord at age 85. He is survived by his wife Ghislaine, brother Roland Belanger, sister Beverly Hebert, brother-in-law Val Roy and daughter Catherine. Arnold was a patriotic baby born to Belle and Edo Belanger on the 4th of July 1938 in Madison Maine. He graduated from Madison High School in 1957. During that time Arnold worked for Veneziano’s market on Madison Ave in Madison. The next step was a job working as a meat cutter at Sampson’s Supermarket later being sold to Shop and Save which today is Hannafords. Kennebec River Pulp and Paper Company was the next stop where he put his brain to work as an insurance clerk. December 1961 the army came knocking and Arnold was drafted. June 1962 Arnold married his beloved wife Ghislaine Roy. Seven years later they adopted 7 month old Catherine. Many health issues deemed him disabled so his time was spent at home while Ghislaine worked. Arnold was a gentle, kind man who loved animals, the woods, nature, camping, playing guitar and singing. He loved his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow. There will be a private burial. Anyone wishing to make a donation in Arnold’s name can contact the Somerset Humane Society in Skowhegan or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
