Barbara Murray Obituary

Barbara Ann Murray, 77, of Mercer, ME passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta after a short struggle with stomach cancer.

Barbara was born on May 30, 1944 in Skowhegan, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Levi and Helen Sawyer. A Madison native, she graduated from Madison High School then became a beautician and taught hairdressing classes. After being a stay-at-home mom for her two sons, she went back to work at Solon Manufacturing then drove for KV Cap before she retired to her lake house in Mercer.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grammy and great grandmother. She treasured any time spent with her family but she especially loved spending time at her lake house tending her flower gardens, taking boat rides, and relaxing. She also loved being surrounded by her many cats and dogs.

Besides the love of her life, Regi, who she was married to for 58 years, she is survived by her son, Stephen, and his spouse Cheryl from Cumberland, RI, four grandchildren Megan, Marisa, Madison and Shawn, and two great grandchildren.

Barbara was predeceased by her brother Donald Sawyer of Madison and her son, Shawn Kevin Murray. She also leaves behind many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

There will be no wake or funeral services.
