Carroll Frith Obituary

Carroll Colin Frith, affectionately known as “Frit” or “Fritter,” passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, with his family by his side after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. He was born on October 26, 1943, in Skowhegan, Maine, the beloved son of Colin Frith and Mary Kollar.

Carroll was a charismatic, loving, and soft-hearted man with a deep passion for the outdoors. Known as a great fisherman, Carroll was always ready to share tips on the best flies to use or which ponds to visit. He especially loved ice fishing and was famous for his stories about "The Big Ones"—whether caught or lost. His fishing tales were as grand as his love for the sport.

At 12 years old, Carroll went hunting for the first time with his father, bagging his first deer. That moment sparked a lifetime passion for hunting, and for the next 68 years, Carroll tagged out every season—a feat he was immensely proud of.

In addition to his love for hunting and fishing, Carroll enjoyed puttering around his property, maintaining the roads, and helping neighbors by plowing snow during the long winter months. He was always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh, embodying the spirit of community and kindness.

Carroll is survived by his daughter, Rochelle "Shelley" Frith, and her life partner Teresa Whitaker; his son, Donald "Donnie" Frith, and his wife Criss Frith; His brother Francis "Fritzie" Frith; and his faithful companion, his dog Moxie. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Jenna, Cadence, Teagan, and Quinn Vintinner; Many nieces and nephews; and his special fishing buddies.

He was predeceased by his parents, Colin and Mary Frith, the love of his life of 50 years, Deeanna Frith, and his beloved Labradors, Hannah and Abby.

Carroll’s sharp wit, intelligence, and incredible sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him. His love for family, friends, and nature will be deeply missed, but his stories and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 28, at 11:00 AM at Sunset Cemetery, Fahi Pond Road, North Anson.

Flowers may be sent to Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple Street, Madison, Maine.
