Christopher King Obituary

Augusta & Madison, Maine – Christopher James King, 45, of Augusta and formerly of Madison, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Born in Farmington, Maine on March 16, 1980, Christopher was the beloved son of Daniel and Janice (Edwards) King.

Chris was known for his quick wit, kind heart, and the many lasting friendships he formed while growing up in Madison. Winters were often spent at the local skating rink from dawn until dusk with his younger brothers, Nick and Greg. Together, they poured countless hours into their shared love for hockey, playing on a travel team for eight years—a sight to behold as the trio played side by side.
Although Chris enjoyed several sports, cross country running held a special place in his heart. The close-knit team he was part of formed a lifelong bond, filled with unforgettable memories and camaraderie.

Chris spent much of his career working in construction and masonry, taking great pride in his craftsmanship. He was also self-employed for many years as a delivery specialist, a role he performed with dedication and enthusiasm.

In 2000, Chris married Melanie and helped raise her two daughters along with his two sons. He was a devoted father who cherished time with his family—teaching life lessons, fishing, shooting hoops, and even building a backyard ice rink to pass on his love of skating. He proudly taught his kids how to drive the old Ford truck and later enjoyed trips to the driving range to share his golf tips and tricks with his sons.

In 2020, Chris met and married Lizzie (Barron) King in a private elopement. The two were planning to celebrate their 5th anniversary this year with a special wedding for family and friends. Together, they enjoyed simple joys like exploring the Wire Bridge, visiting Old Orchard Beach and the Breakwater, attending concerts, and cheering on teams at Bruins, Celtics, and Boston Red Sox games—moments Chris truly treasured.

Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Lizzie King, and her children, Lawrence and Kaitlyn; his parents, Daniel and Janice King; his brothers, Nicholas King of Madison and Greg King with his partner Angela St. Peter; nieces Noella Pepin, Aaliyah, and Autumn King of Madison; his sister Rachel King and her wife Jill (Tuttle) King of Windham; his sons, Logan King and partner Devon of Waterville, and Gavin King and partner Brooke of Anson; and his stepdaughters, Sierra Gross and husband Nate, and their children Peyton, Lux, and Asher of Madison, and Mariah (Ruiz) Dill and husband Travis, and their children Xyliana and Trinity of Anson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Sebastian Church in Madison. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
