Clifford Scott Stevens passed away on May 9, 2026. He was born on September 17, 1959 in Pittsburgh, PA, the third of six children born to Collin and Louise Stevens. He grew up in Syracuse, NY, Middletown, NJ and New Hartford, CT, before moving to Maine in 1984.
As a teenager, Cliff was immersed in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout with Three Palms. He then earned a BS in Outdoor Recreation and Management from Southern Connecticut State University. He married his wife Michelle in 1987. Clifford - cliff “steep slope” ford “river crossing Cliff spent his life recreating and making a living on rivers. In 1993, he purchased All Outdoors based on Lake Moxie in The Forks, ME. Moxie Outdoor Adventures was born and became his life's work. Cliff brought vision, energy, and passion to his business. He attracted employees who embodied Moxie; men and women with spirit, nerve and guts. He was an attentive and loving father and husband. He considered his daughters Emily and Kate his greatest achievement and he took great joy in them; he was their biggest fan and mentor. Cliff possessed an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was endlessly creative, he was thoughtful, kind and honest. He loved music, playing guitar, dogs, cooking, looking like Santa Claus, most sports, the Steelers, family, the outdoors, storytelling, camping, and river trips.
Cliff is survived by his wife Michelle and daughters Emily and Kate, his dog Wren, sisters Sandy Smith, Liz Stevens, and Carrie McMillan, brothers Collin and Craig Stevens and their spouses, as well as many nieces and nephews, in-laws, many close friends, and The Men of Action.
Heartfelt thanks go out to Adrienne for being a dedicated and patient colleague for so many years! A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 19th at Lake Moxie Camps. Details will be posted at a later date. Donations may be made in Cliff’s honor to the American Lung Association.
