Douglas Ainsworth Obituary

Embden.

Douglas W. Ainsworth went home to be with his Lord on October 26, 2023. He was born on April 4, 1951 and was raised in a 1 room cabin in the woods of NW Mass.

He loved hunting and fishing, said he was most close to God when he was alone in the woods to experience all creation in it's natural habitat. He served in the US Army and was wounded and shot down as a combat Huey Door Gunner in Vietnam in 1969. He was proud to be a member of the 1st Inf Div (bloody red one). Shortly after Vietnam he moved his young family to Embden Maine and lived there the rest of his life.

Doug was a brick & stone mason in the central Maine area for 16 years and then opened the Vac 3-D Shop in Madison for another 22 years before retiring due to bad health. He suffered all his adult life with multiple nerve damage and later stage-4 lung cancer (agent orange) all from Vietnam.

Music was a major passion of his life. He learned to play guitar at 11 years old, loved to sing, write music and poetry. After he gave his heart to Christ he felt compelled to tell others so he took his young family and traveled throughout New England for a few years preaching & singing. He played in his Dad's group "The Gospel Four" for 5 years and later formed his own group "Resurrection". Loved to play with all the local musicians and attend music jams. He played mostly Gospel, Country & Western, & the Blues. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Shirley whom he married on Feb 14, 1970. His 3 children Douglas R. Ainsworth and his wife Shirley, Lisa Marie LaShier and her husband Jeff, & Jacob R. Ainsworth and his wife Rosalie, along with his 9 grandchildren. He wanted to just have a graveside service which will be held at Pierce Cemetery in Solon on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM Family & Friends are All Welcome.
