Dr Gabriel Belanger

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Gabriel Belanger on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 42, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Strong, Maine, he was the son of Roderick Belanger and Cynthia (Bean) Belanger.
Dr. Belanger lived a life of service and dedication to his family, patients, colleagues, and community. His unwavering spirit was a light that brightened the lives of everyone who knew him.
A talented and highly respected surgeon, Dr. Belanger dedicated his life to serving the people of Maine through his work in the medical field. He graduated from Valley High School in Bingham
and the University of Maine at Orono. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Dartmouth Mecical School and completed his surgical internship and residency training at Maine Medical Center. Board-certified in Urology, he practiced for more than 14 years, specializing in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex urologic conditions.
Dr. Belanger was affliated with multiple hospitals in central Maine including Maine General Medical Center and the Maine Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he was known for his compassion, thoroughness, and unwavering commitment to patient care. He contributed to several published medical studies and earned recognition for his expertise in his field.
When not in the operating room, Gabe, as he was affectionately known, was most often found at home, thoroughly enjoying every moment with his daughter Ainsley. His love of the outdoors made his life an adventure. Whether he was skiing with Ainsley, boating, grilling, walking through the woods with his beloved hounds, or sipping coffee beside the campfire, Gabe could usually be found outside, no matter the weather. He is fondly remembered as someone who would go out of his way to help anyone and everyone he could. Gabriel was devoted to being a good father and teaching Ainsley about the source of all love and life.
His legacy is one of love and faith in Jesus Christ.
Gabriel has joined his late father, Roderick Belanger, in heaven as well as his grandparents Larry and Martha Belanger and Reginald and Ida Bean.
Gabriel leaves behind his mother, Cynthia Belanger; his daughter, Ainsley Belanger and her mother Lindsey Belanger; his brother Damian Belanger and wife Tanya Belanger; his sisters Marguerite Belanger and Hannah Pelletier and husband Dan Pelletier Jr.; his nephews, Jacob and Akolde; and his nieces, Ruby, Emma, Pearl, and Eliana.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives were touched by his dedication and skill.
A Celebration of Gabriel's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Central Church, 20 Mission Avenue, Augusta, Maine at 9:30 in the morning.. Following the service A gathering in Gabriel's memory will be held at the Augusta Civic Center Western/Arnold/Howard Room First Floor North Wing
