Dwayne L. Achey

Jackman – Dwayne Leandre Achey, 70, died unexpectedly, August 18, 2026 at his home. He was born November 7, 1955, in Jackman, the son of Leandre and Arline (Goulette) Achey.

Dwayne graduated from Forest Hills High School, Class of 1975. Following graduation he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railroad until 1987. After the railroad, Dwayne was a subcontractor for many landowners doing various forestry jobs. He also spent several summers guiding hunters and fishermen in Northern Quebec.

Dwayne will be remembered for his passion of the outdoors. He was content with camping out in the woods, foraging for berries and mushrooms, trapping, hunting, and fishing. He enjoyed gardening, canning, and having cookouts. Dwayne was dedicated to his family and taught his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends many of his outdoor skills. He enjoyed playing cards, pool, horseshoes, and later in life cornhole and golf. Dwayne lived life to the fullest doing what he enjoyed.

He was predeceased by this father Leandre, and is survived by his mother, Arline Achey, his sons Rocky Achey and wife, Marisa, Jesse Achey and wife, Tabitha, all of Jackman; five grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Aylah, Devina, and Octavia; one sister, Barbara Gilbert of Winslow; two brothers, Carl Achey and wife Cecile of Sydney, and Kelvin Achey of Jackman and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at noon, Friday, September 4th at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Jackman. A reception will follow at Four Seasons Restaurant.
