Earl David Viles, age 91, passed away on August 4, 2025 at Eastern Maine Medical Center, in Bangor. He was born in Blawenburg, NJ on December 24, 1933, the son of Philip and Lillian Viles. He graduated from Anson Academy, Class of 1953 and married his loving wife, Pauline “Polly” in 1954.
Earl was a dairy farmer for several years and worked for several area businesses. He enjoyed snowmobiling, spent countless hours grooming trails, and was an active member of the Anson-North Anson Snowmobile Club. He really enjoyed traveling. He and Polly visited 49 states and all of Canada’s provinces. He was also an avid gardener, ice fisherman, and wood craftsman and enjoyed sharing his creations.
Earl is survived by his wife Polly; children, David Viles and his wife Cheryl of Oakland, Nancy Caron of Standish, Edward Viles and his wife Susan of Skowhegan; sister, Doris Beal and her husband Nathan of Union; brothers, Walter Viles of North Anson and Donald Viles and his wife Catherine of Virginia; seven grandchildren; Weston Viles of Portland, Lauren O’Reilly and husband Jason of Hampden, Timothy Caron and wife Nadine of Bridgton, Brandon Caron of Standish, Christopher Caron of Sebago, Jodi Viles of Skowhegan, Tasha Goodrich and husband Kevin of Skowhegan; seven great grandchildren; Kyle Rosell, Lillian, Jack, Christopher, and David Caron, Jacob and Savannah Garland and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; bother, Henry; sister-in-law, Lorraine Viles; and brothers-in-law, David Poirier and Eugene Norton.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery, in North Anson on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm with a gathering at the family home to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
