Elizabeth (Betty) F. Hunnewell, 89, passed away in Florida at the home of her daughter
on Monday, April, 10, 2023 surrounded by love and cared for by her children.
Elizabeth Jane, was born on April 24th, 1933 to Doris and Wendall Farrar in
Plainville, Conn. After graduating from Bingham High School, she went on to
wed Stanton Hunnewell on Sept. 20. 1952 and they raised
their four children in the Bingham area. Elizabeth dedicated her life to
her family, church, and service to the community.
Her love of music took her on a choral journey from Plainville Junior Choir to Bingham First
Congregational Church Choir, where she remained a member until her passing. After becoming a
member of the Stanley Bean Post 99 American Legion Auxiliary in 1952, she held the office of past
president. Upon learning to ski, Betty became a member of the Baker Mountain Ski Tow Club and
enjoyed watching many generations of children take to the slopes. Her zest for crafting led her to
become an extraordinary seamstress, quilter, and knitter. She could often be found at her sewing
machine or sitting with her knitting.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Stanton B. Hunnewell, grandson,
Aaron Jon Hunnewell, sister, Jeanette Farrar Melcher of Bingham,
brothers in law Owen E. Keen of North Anson and Harry H. Melcher
of Bingham, daughters in law, Susan Barbeau Hunnewell of Belgrade and
Marilyn Kindig Hunnewell West Valley City, Utah, and son in law,
Stephen R. Wells of Homestead, Florida.
She leaves behind her children Gregory J. Hunnewell, Belgrade, Me,
Gene C. Hunnewell (Shirley) of S. Jordan, Ut, Margret Hunnewell Wells of Homestead, Fl,
Randall C. Hunnewell of Bingham, Me, her sister, Carolyn Farrar Keen
and family, North Anson, Me, her brother, Richard W. Farrar (Mary) of Emmett, ID
and family, the Melcher family of Bingham, ME and numerous beloved grandchildren,
great grandchildren, great greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Bingham Village Cemetery on Saturday,
Sept. 23 at 11:00AM with Rev. Mark Tanner presiding.
