Franklin D. Bumpus, age 79, went home to the Lord on June 1, 2024, at Togus Veterans Hospital after a long and hard fought battle with lung disease. He was born in Skowhegan, Maine on April 30, 1945, the only son of Gerald E and Corinne T (Carter) Bumpus. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters Donna Bumpus and Brenda Brown.
Frank spent many years in the US Army in the armored division as a tank driver, with duty stations in Virginia, Texas, Germany, and Thailand. Following his military service he had a long career as a long haul truck driver. One of his greatest joys in life was sharing his love of the Lord with everyone he came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra (Nelson) Bumpus; three children, Joy, Ross, and Kelley, all of Texas; and six grandchildren, also in Texas;step daughter Beth, stepchildren and step grandchildren; sister Nancy and James Manship, Bangor, Maine; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Many, many thanks to his very close church family for all their love and support over the last few months.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Pentecostal Church 160 Old Point Avenue, Madison. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
