Frederick L. McClintick

BINGHAM – Frederick L. McClintick, 88, of Bingham left this world and passed into the loving arms of his Savior Jesus Christ on June 11, 2026 surrounded by family in his home, after a brief battle against cancer.

A lifelong resident of Bingham, Fred was born on April 20, 1938 to Leroy & Myrtle (Gleason) McClintick. He graduated from Bingham High School in 1957. He married his High School sweetheart, Anita Beaudoin on July 4,th 1959. They were happily married for 48 years until Anita passed in 2007. He found true love again and married his second sweetheart, Nancy Staples on September 19th , 2015. They were inseparable for almost 11 years.

While in High School, Fred joined the Civil Air Patrol and became a cadet. He worked at Quimby Veneer Mill also. Fred was an agent telegrapher from June, ’57 to Dec. ’59 for the Maine Central Railroad Company. He also worked at the Colby Theater as an usher and projectionist.

Fred accepted a job from the Federal Trust Company in 1960 as a teller and with training and commercial courses provided by Federal Trust, he proudly worked his way up to Branch Manager. He retired from banking after 33 years in June of 1993.

After retirement he served as Second Selectman for 2 years and then Treasurer for the Town of Bingham for 11 years.

Fred had a great passion and love for the outdoors and nature. He hiked 22 mountains in Maine including Mt. Katahdin 5 times, 2 in NH, and hiked most of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Every summer he took his family on camping and hiking trips throughout Maine creating lifelong memories of said adventures. He could be found skiing, snowshoeing, bicycling, and birdwatching. He hunted, fished, snowmobiled & four wheeled with his buddies Leon Hilton & lifelong friend Maynard Lagasse. He enjoyed landscaping, gardening, sailing, square dancing, and motorcycling (he received his license at age 70!) Fred had a passionate love for photography. He spent his life capturing beautiful moments of animals, flowers, and trees so they could be cherished forever by his loved ones. He was fascinated with astronomy and built his own telescope and observatory on his barn roof. He also had a love for mechanics, woodworking, watching fireworks, and vanilla ice cream!

Fred was the kindest, loving person, and devoted husband and father. Fred had a quietness about himself but knew what he wanted and how to succeed.

Fred was an active member of the Trinity Baptist Church where he grew closer to God, got saved, and baptized. He loved his many brothers and sisters in Christ.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Staples, Daughter Lori (Charles) Pratt, Daughter-in-law Jolene McClintick, Stepson Michael (Debbie) Staples & Family, Grandchildren Philip Pratt, Tiffany Pratt and Torri (Brian) O’Leary, and, Great Grandchildren Gary Pratt and Henry O’Leary, a wonderful Brother-in-Law and dear friend Henry (Maria) Beaudoin, a special cousin Jimmy (Louise) Carl, 3 half-sisters Susan Keniston, Sally Mater, Bambi Morneau and many precious nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was predeceased by his wife Anita B. McClintick, his son Mark McClintick, sister Nancy (McClintick) Cates, brother-in-law Roland (Mary) Beaudoin, half-brother Donald Dionne.

Fred’s family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Maine General Hospice.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Trinity Baptist Church, 64 Old Canada Rd, Moscow, ME on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Committal to follow immediately at the Robinson Cemetery in Moscow. Light refreshments and ice cream social to follow at Trinity Baptist Church.
