Madison – Geneva “Jean” T. Landry, (92), of Madison passed away on February 1 at her home in Madison surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on December 10, 1931 in Skowhegan, Maine the daughter of Edward and Mary Jarvais. She was educated in the Skowhegan schools.
Jean worked in Sampson Grocery Store in Madison and later worked for many, many years at Lufkin Tools (Anson Stick Company). Her most important work was taking care of her family and raising six children, one grandchild and one nephew. She loved to travel with her husband, Bernard. Much of that traveling was done on the back of Bernard’s Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was a devoted member of the Saint Sebastian Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a hard worker, good house keeper and wonderful cook. Her kitchen was always open, and there was always a seat at the table. She was a friend to all, a terrific mother and a loving wife.
Geneva was predeceased by her husband, Bernard of 65 years; her son Dalton Landry; two brothers, Edward Jarvais and Roland Jarvais; two sisters, Cora Hendsbee and Rita Lessard. “Jean” is survived by her five children: Dallas Landry and his wife Brenda, Dalmon Landry and his wife Brittany, Dwayne Landry, Darlene Landry Santoro and her husband Bruce, and Darryl Landry. She leaves behind many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a grandson who was raised in her household Lucas Landry and his wife Cari, and lastly, her nephew Terry Lessard (deceased.)
A funeral mass will be celebrated later this spring at the Saint Sebastian Church in Madison. Burial will follow in the Saint Sebastian Cemetery. A date and time will be announced when confirmed. The family would like to thank all for their thoughts, prayers kind words and cards.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Geneva’s name to Saint Sebastian Thrift Shop which does community work with its funds.
