Glenna LeHay Obituary

Glenna E. LeHay, 77, passed away unexpectedly from this earthly life to her heavenly home August 15, 2024.

She was born in Skowhegan, Maine on September 24, 1946 to Joseph N. Houghton and Olive (Barron) Houghton.

Glenna graduated from Central High School in North New Portland, Maine, where she was a DAR good citizen candidate, class secretary, and salutatorian. She received the honor of attending Dirigo Girls State. She was a soprano singer with Kennebec Valley Chorus. Upon graduating, she attended Skowhegan Business School. She worked as a secretary for the State of Maine and later for Solon Manufacturing.

Glenna received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the spring of 1969 and was baptized in the fall that same year. She was a Good News Club teacher in the local area for many years. She taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and Junior Church. However, her first love was serving the Lord that gave so much for her.

One of Glenna’s favorite sayings was, “The Lord knows the answer.  He will show us what to do.”

Her favorite verses were Proverbs 3:5-6.  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways, acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”

Glenna and her husband, Earl A. LeHay, owned and operated LeHay’s Dairy Farm for over 50 years.

Glenna cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always had a kind smile for her family, and was passionate about spending time with them. She watched the basketball tournaments to see her granddaughter play so she could cheer her on. She played table games with the grandchildren and read stories to the great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting things to give away.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Patricia A. Houghton.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earl A. LeHay of Athens; Children Jeannie Roemmich and her husband Robert of Bangor; Janice Catuccio and her husband James of Niskayuna; Valerie Pomelow and her husband Brandon of Athens; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 11am to 12 noon, at East New Portland Cemetery.

Her family would like to thank RGFH, Life-Flight, and MMC Neurology and Cardiac Departments and staff, Giberson Funeral Home, Madison, Maine.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to CEF Central Maine Chapter, PO BOX 132, Carmel, Maine 04419 (207) 848-7572.
