Jill Dojnia Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jill Marie “Chesley” Dojnia

Jill MarieChesleyDojnia, 43, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 5, 2025 in Skowhegan, Maine.

She was born on January 29, 1982 in Skowhegan, Maine. The daughter of Dana Chesley and Sheila Hayden. She grew up in Skowhegan where she attended local schools.

Jill was the heart of her home and the light in so many people’s lives. She had a soul that radiated kindness, a laugh that filled rooms, and a love so big that she became a mother figure to anyone who needed one.

She found joy in the simple things—blasting early '90s "trash" music (think "My Neck, My Back", "Say My Name") while cleaning the house like it was her own personal concert. Her kids will always remember her dancing, singing, and turning ordinary days into memories filled with fun and music.

Every year, she took her children on family camping trips, creating traditions rooted in love, laughter, and togetherness. She loved to color, binge-watch Charmed and Gilmore Girls, crush levels on Candy Crush, and play board games—especially Yahtzee, which she proudly dominated.

But more than hobbies, it was her heart that made her unforgettable. She was genuinely kind to everyone she met—especially young girls who didn’t have strong maternal figures. She never let anyone go hungry or feel alone. Her door was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her love had no limits.

She adored her grandchildren, often taking them for weekends filled with playground adventures, long walks, and trips for ice cream. She cherished every moment with them, just as they cherished her gentle presence and fun-loving spirit.

She was there for almost every one of her daughter’s births—offering strength, encouragement, and unwavering support, especially during unassisted home births, which she deeply believed in. She called her daughter Caitlin, her angel—sent from heaven to speak wisdom into her life—and was her biggest fan through every stage of motherhood.

Her love story with Tim was one of deep devotion. They didn’t always have a lot, but together they built a home filled with love. From sneaking away for date nights when they could, to wrapping Christmas presents after midnight to make the holidays magical for their kids—she always made sure her family had what they needed.

Jill is predeceased by her father Dana Chesley, her Nan and Papa Norman and Effie Hayden.

She is survived by her Mother Shelia Ann “Hayden” Chesley of Skowhegan, her children Caitlin Jean and her husband Ben, Nevaeh Dojnia, and Izabella Dojnia. Her grandchildren Hazel, Hendrix, Jeremiah, Chloe, Zion Jean of Oakland and Nico Dojnia-Workman of Skowhegan, her siblings- Jason Chesley of Skowhegan and Cindy Dugans. Her nieces Sadie Ross and Kyah Lang and her life long best friend Theresa Gooche.

Jill leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, warmth, and fierce love. She gave everything she had to the people she loved—and somehow always had more to give. She will be missed deeply, remembered always, and cherished forever by everyone lucky enough to have known her.
