Jodi Merry Obituary

Jodi Ann Merry, 63, of Fairfield (formerly Anson), passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 1, 2026 after a 20 battle with digestive cancer (GIST). Jodi, along with her husband, William Merry II were residents of Anson for many years spending winters in Florida with longtime friends. Born April 20,1962 to Sandra Pomeroy Porter. Jodi was a Christian, baptized in 2006 at Christ Community Fellowship in Madison where she attended until 2023, when her illness became too much for her to be able to attend any longer, she continued with readings from home. Jodi’s passion was showing barrel racing horses; in her earlier years it was every weekend with Ballard Farms. Jodi held many championship titles throughout the years. Her love for horses was strong, and she enjoyed teaching riding and horse care to the youth in her circle. Even during her struggle with cancer, Jodi in the later years, fell in love and mastered team penning/sorting (on horseback- separating and penning cattle within time limit) while living her winters in Florida. Jodi was a 1980 Graduate of Erskine Academy, worked for the State of Maine for 15 years and had many years employed by private businesses.

Jodi is survived by her husband of 29 years, William Merry II who spoiled her endlessly and cared for her soley until the end of her days. Jodi also is survived by her mother, Sandra Pomeroy Porter of Waterville (previously North Monmouth). Two sisters, Joyce Ryan and her husband Anthony of Clinton and her two children Kacie Cayford and husband Aaron of Waterville and Jace Tillson, wife Samantha and their daughter Karoline of Clinton. Julie Chicoine and her fiancé Vern Palmer of Newport, her son Jordan Giroux and his fiancé Nicole Gilman and their son Wyatt of China. Two brothers Jeffrey Dupont and wife Kathleen and their son Joseph of Readfield, Robert Porter and wife Pamela of Mount Vernon, their two children Jenny Porter of Union and her son Harley. Joshua Galouch and fiancé Sara Bashford of Readfield and their two children Gabrielle and Ethan and Gabrielles son Timothy. Jodi also leaves behind a mother-in-law Audrey Pratt and her husband Rocky of Bridgton and Florida. Two sisters-in-law Donna Benton and husband Jody of Eddington, her two children Brandon Peavey of Alabama, Bethany Peavey of Saco. Heidi Foster and her husband James of Saco and their children, Melissa Libby and her children Tyler, Ryan, Myles. Jonathan Foster and his wife Jessica of Saco and their two children, Levi and Evelyn. Gregory Foster and his wife Kassandra of Saco and their son Teddy. Jodi also is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends from church, coworkers and her horse world friends.

Jodi was predeceased by her stepfather Ernest Porter of North Monmouth, and father-in-law William Merry of Anson.

Donations if desired may be made to a local humane society in Jodi’s name.

Jodi’s family would like to thank Madison Heath Center and Beacon Hospice Care for their support and care.

SERVICES: will be January 17, 2026, 11:00 am the Christ Community Fellowship Church, 43 Maple Street in Madison. Luncheon will follow. A burial will be planned for spring.
