Luke Tewksbury, a legendary outdoorsmen and devoted family man, died unexpectedly Friday, October 5th at age 48 in Solon, Maine.
He was born on September 29, 1970 in Skowhegan, Maine the son of Larry Tewksbury and Ellen “Spaulding” Tewksbury.
Luke was a lifelong resident of Maine, Luke’s insatiable love for the outdoors was evident throughout his life. He was a Maine Master Guide, worked for BHP Utah, and spent twenty years as a white water rafting guide. Luke had a deep affection for the river and fishing. But, it was hunting in the woods of Maine that was his ultimate love. Luke created Kennebec Valley Guide Service as a way to share his passion of hunting and the outdoors with others.
He was devoted to his family, friends, and his wife and soulmate, Deb, of twenty years. For Luke, the most important role in his life was dad to his beautiful boys, Hunter and Fisher. The boys said the best memories of their dad was when they were “hunting and playing baseball.”
Luke was an active member of his community. To know Luke was to love him. He was involved with the Solon Recreation Committee, as well as a coach for numerous youth athletic teams.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Milton Tewksbury of Connecticut; sons Hunter and Fisher; mother Ellen Spaulding Tewksbury and her partner Ken Strachan of Moscow; father Larry Tewksbury and wife Claudia of Embden; sisters Shelby Downing and husband Jon of Carrabassett Valley; Brodie Tewksbury and partner Shaun Clary of New York; brother Daniel Tewksbury and wife Brandi Schinzel of Madison, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 13th at the Evergreen Campground located at 202 Ferry Street, Solon, Maine from 1 to 4 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Skowhegan Savings Bank in care of Hunter and Fisher Tewksbury.
