Marion Frances Bunton died peacefully following a long battle with cancer in her apartment at Scarborough Terrace in Maine on October 23, 2023 at the age of 79.
She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6, 1944, a daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Dean. She was raised in Somerville, MA along with her 8 siblings and received her education from Somerville High.
Marion married her loving companion for life Leonard Bunton, in September of 1963. They lived in Chelmsford as a young family of four before moving to Maine to become owners of a store. The couple opened Bunton’s General Store that soon became a local hangout for so many folks for over a decade.
Marion was a dedicated mother and homemaker, working hard to give her family the best that she could. Her children remember their Mom as a strong and protective Mother who encouraged them to always be true to themselves. She was witty with a direct sense of humor who loved her family and friends deeply.
She will be remembered by so many for her generous nature of helping others. Marion had a love for babies and was a foster parent for over 50 children as well as many other young folks needing guidance that found comfort and love with her.
Marion was passionate about crafting and often indulged in many types of classes to hone her skills. Her talents were most proudly shown in her Victorian Doll reproductions. Her gift to create was shared with so many and her talents left all in awe. Marion was devout in her faith and a member of Crossroads Bible Church.
Marion is survived by her children Daniel Bunton; Melissa Bunton Gosselin and her fiance Mark. Her two beautiful grandchildren Luke and Emma. Marion also leaves behind her sisters, many nieces, nephews, her special Spanish families and many friends she considered family.
The service is scheduled for 11:00 am on November 4 at Crossroads Bible Church in Madison, Maine with a reception to follow at the Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marion’s life. The family would like to thank Scarborough Terrace and Affinity Care of Maine for their care, compassion and loving attention to Mom.
