Mark Young Schaub of Lower Makefield, Pennsylvania, was born in Somerville, New Jersey in 1959. He died unexpectedly on February 18, 2021 at his beloved family camp on Pleasant Pond in Caratunk, Maine. The son of Richard Frederick Schaub and Charel Young Schaub, he grew up in Hillsborough, New Jersey with his identical twin brother Rick and their younger brother Kurt. The family never missed a summer at Pleasant Pond. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1977, and from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1982. He married the former Anne Bayreuther in 1982, but they met as children on Pleasant Pond before meeting again at The University of Maine. Their love of Pleasant Pond perpetuated through their life together and they spent every free moment they could there with their four boys, their family and many friends.

After wedding Anne, he spent the beginning of his career working for the Mergentime Corporation on large construction projects in Michigan and Pennsylvania before opting to spend more time with his growing family by acquiring and developing his own business, Chimney Savers in 1986, which he continued with until his death. He took great pride in his work restoring fireplaces and chimneys in historic homes across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York as well as on “This Old House” on numerous occasions. His professional achievements were only surpassed by his roles as a husband and father. 

Mark could always be counted on to selflessly pledge his time to community service efforts, however it was the Boy Scouts of America that he devoted himself to the most. An Eagle Scout himself, watching all four of his sons achieve Scouting’s highest rank count amongst his proudest moments. He served as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 10 in Yardley, Pennsylvania, during which time he mentored over fifty young men to Eagle Scouts from the hundreds of boys to pass through the troop under his watch.  

Mark was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, upland bird hunting, and snowmobiling, but especially loved fishing with his father, brothers, sons, and friends at Northeast Carry on Moosehead Lake in Maine. 

Mark was predeceased by his father. He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Anne, his sons and daughters-in-law: Mark Schaub, Jr. of Portland, Maine, John and Alicia Schaub of Muskegon, Michigan, Bennett and Sabrina Schaub of Lambertville, New Jersey and William and Hannah Schaub, Hudson, New Hampshire, his two granddaughters Julie and Caroline, and his mother, Charel.

His family will be holding visiting hours at the Swartz-Givnish Funeral Home at 323 Washington Avenue in Newtown, Pennsylvania on Friday, February 26 from 1 to 3. A private family service will be held this summer in Maine.
