Madison - Marlene R Brooks, 69, of Madison, passed on from this life, September 5, 2021 in the
arms of her husband after a brief illness.
Born January 1, 1952 to Ruth and Felix Moody. She was 1 of 10 children. Marlene was raised
by foster parents, Omar and Mary Bangs.
She attended schools in Palmyra and graduated from Nokomis high school. Marlene joined the
United States Army in 1972. Shortly after joining she married the love of her life, Dale. She was
honorably discharged in 1974. She and Dale settled in Madison where they raised their family.
Marlene attended Beal College while working and raising her children. She would go on to
have a successful career as a CNA and would eventually retire as a school bus driver.
She was very involved in many organizations including the Boy Scouts of America. Most
recently she was involved with the E. Madison Grange. She loved to volunteer and gave her
time generously to various organizations.
Marlene treasured the time she spent with her family. She could often be found at the sewing
machine, some would say, sewing was her passion.
She was predeceased by her biological parents Ruth (Annis) and Felix Moody; foster parents
Omar and Mary Bangs; 2 sisters, 3 brothers and a nephew.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Dale of Madison; children: Larry and
wife Denise of Solon; Angela and husband Jeffrey of Fairfield; and Omar and wife Ashley of
Bingham. Grandchildren: William, Trae, Sebastian, Kyle, Derek, Keirra, Peyton, and Carson.
Great-granddaughter: Madelyn.
Sisters: Sylvia, Priscilla and Candy and brother; Keith.
Many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
At the request of the family there will be a private burial with full military honors at the Maine
Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine.
