Merton Goodridge Obituary

Merton James Goodridge, 87, of Norridgewock, Maine passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 24, 2025 at his home.

He was born on November 18, 1937, a son of Milton Goodridge and Ervina Palmer in Norridgewock, Maine where he attended local schools.

He enjoyed going to casino's, many times sneaking his mother away who also loved the slots. He was a lifetime woodsman who knew how to land a tree better than most everyone. He worked in the woods until his late 70's. Many times he was cutting and hauling wood after sunset. He had a soft spot in his heart for Scott Morgan who is married to his niece. He enjoyed teaching Scott his skills on how to sharpen a chainsaw the right way and how to land a tree like a pro.

Some of his favorite interests and best memories were with his brother, Kenneth Goodridge. They traveled across the country all the way to California making stops a long the way. They made their way to Alaska where they made many memories that Merton held close to his heart. He would tell stories of the times he and his brother spent deep sea fishing with his nephews, Loren Goodridge and Merle Goodridge Jr. He had many nieces and nephews who best remember him teaching them how to play poker and cribbage.

He is predeceased by his parents Milton and Ervina Goodridge, his brother, Merle Goodridge Sr., and the love of his life Claire Eagen, who passed away more thirty years ago. She always had his heart. He is also predeceased by his cousin/friend who was more like a brother Oren Goodridge.

He is survived by his two sons, Jade and Shawn Goodridge, his three stepsons, Randy, Ralph, and Trent Clukey, his a grandson Charlie Quimby, as well as Paul
Lamoureau, Ralph Clukey Sr., Richard Snell. He is also survived by his the love of his life's daughter Kim Foss, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his good friend Carl Landry who was a great friend to Merton at the end of his life. Always checking in on him over the past five years. Carl was the one who found him in his home after he passed.

Quoting him, as he greeted people, "HEY" with his deep voice. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
