Mildred Coro Obituary

Jackman – Mildred Rita Coro passed away on August 9, 2021 at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville.

She was born on August 13, 1923, in Jackman, Maine, to Fred and Freida Nadeau. Mildred lived most of her life in Jackman, Maine. Childhood stories and memories centered around picking berries, gardening, and assisting her father as he provided bootlegged alcohol to many townsfolk during Prohibition. On November 11, 1941 she married Hubert “Buster” Coro in Jackman. They were married for 55 years until his passing in 1997. Except for the time Buster spent in the U.S. Navy during WWII, they spent their lives together in Jackman and Connecticut. She was a loving mother of ten children and an exceptional homemaker. Known as Nook to many friends and Mama to her extended family she took great pride in her ability to care for all. Well known for her doughnuts and other sweet treats, she could often be found in the kitchen. In the late 1960’s and again in the mid 1970’s she and Buster left Maine for Connecticut for a short time before coming back home. It was at this time that she attended a Certified Nursing Assistant program which led to a job she thoroughly enjoyed for several years at the Jackman Regional Health Center.

Mildred continued to live in Jackman until May 2011 when she moved to Mount St. Joseph Nursing home. The family would like to thank the staff for everything they did over the years to make Mama as comfortable and happy as possible.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Hubert (Buster), her parents, four sons, Harold, Alfred, Michael and Peter, four sisters, Pearl (Falardeau), Juliette (Duquette), Doris (Nadeau), Frances (Morin) and one brother Theodore.

She is survived by one brother, John Nadeau, six daughters and their husbands, Linda & Warren Hall, Connie & Elmer Coleman, Chris & Ron Roberts, Jane Beaudry, Corrine Coro, and Bonnie Zelno, grandchildren, Dean Hall, Stewart Hall, Larry Hall, Dwayne Coleman, Brett Roberts, Shanna Allen, Heath Coro, Courtney Coro, Allison Desjardins, Jason Beaudry, Shawn Beaudry,Cassidy Lumbert, Morgan Lumbert and twenty two great grandchildren.
