Ronald Belanger Obituary

Ronald J. Belanger, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, after a long illness. Ronald is better known to his family and friends in the area by his nickname, "Nini."  Nini was the eighth of thirteen children born to Larry and Martha Belanger. In all his 76 years, Nini stayed close to his roots in the Bingham community. He was a man that loved being with family and the many friends he met along the way.

Nini was an avid sports fan. He and Alieta shared this passion throughout their 58 years of marriage. Together, you would find them off fishing, snowmobiling, bird hunting, and playing golf. When the boys were born, Nini spent years teaching his boys how to play basketball, baseball, golf, how to fish, and hunt. This was a very special time for them. Nini, Alieta and the boys enjoyed days of fly fishing on Pierce Pond meeting up with Alieta's parents. At one point, he built his own Grand Laker Canoe with the help of his oldest son, Paul and father-in-law, Reggie. Nini also wanted to go elk and mule deer hunting. So, he and his youngest son, Peter, drove to Montana to hunt for elk. They had a great adventure. When you went to visit Nini, there was usually a sporting event on TV. He enjoyed sharing this time and knowledge of the game with you. For many years, Nini and Alieta hosted a 4th July reunion at their camp on Kingsbury Pond.  His siblings came from everywhere to share the holiday. To have his siblings and their families all together meant more than words can express

Nini graduated from Vally High School in 1968. From there, he went to EMVTI in Bangor. He secured a position at the Quimby Veneer Mill until its` closure. As luck would have it, he was able to secure a position with Central Maine Power for more than 25 years. He would say how lucky he was to live in Bingham and work 5 minutes away.

Nini is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alieta, a son, Paul and his wife Wendy of Moscow, grandchildren Dylan and Jordan, a son, Peter of Bingham, grandchildren Shelby and Maci. Over the years, he lost 3 brothers, Roland, Kenny and Roderick. He leaves nine siblings: many nephews, nieces, and friends. Nini was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Bingham. An interment will be held at the Union Cemetery in Moscow on July 10th at 11:00. A gathering will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church following the burial. In lieu of Flowers, donations can be made to St. Peter's. Food Pantry, Pob 391, Bingham, Maine 04920.
