William Bloom Obituary

William (Bill) Bradford Bloom, aged 63, passed away in a house fire on Thursday, January 3, 2019 in North Anson, Maine.

Bill is survived only by his brother-in-law, John P. Sexton, of Chester, VT.He is predeceased by all of his immediate family; his mother Louise Meigs Weimer Bloom, his father Louis Morris Bloom, and his brother Edgar Selden Bloom of Devon, PA, and his sister Charlotte Bloom Sexton of Chester, VT.

Bill was born in and grew up in Devon, Pennsylvania. His siblings were 16 and 18 years older, so Bill was always considered the baby of the family.

Bill attended Brevard Junior College in Brevard, NC, graduating in 1976 with an Associate of Arts degree, then he attended Eastern University in St. Davids, PA where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in 1978.

Bill worked a number of jobs over the years including a 4 years stretch as a manager of the Administrative Services Department at Miller, Mason & Dickenson Insurance and Consulting Group in West Conshohocken, PA, but his true love was Christian Missionary work. Bill worked for two years early on as an intern for Operation Mobilization overseas. He later worked here in the US for 12 years as an administrative assistant, and database pro, for US Center for World Missions in Phoenixville, PA supporting missionaries all over the world.

After his mothers death, Bill had the singular dream to use his inheritance to support missionaries all over the world, by creating and furnishing a missionary furlough home (where international missionaries could stay for little or no cost while they were traveling in the United States raising funds for their work in foreign countries). Bill finally selected a site in North Anson, Maine, where he could create a large “bed and breakfast” style home for those missionaries.

Bill had other passions in life outside of the mission field. He loved model railroading and even owned a Model Railroad store for a few years called Tom's Trains in Frazier, PA. Bill was an avid hiker and loved the outdoors. Bill also loved astronomy, and even had planned a trip around the world to view the great eclipse of 2010.

Bill was a gentle soul. Everyone who met Bill, loved that gentle spirit. He learned early that the best way to befriend others was to show a genuine interest in their lives and loves.

Now we will have the opportunity to love Bill back with a memorial service that will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of North Anson, 21 Elm Street, North Anson, Maine.
